Educator Membership

Educator membership is open to individuals who are employed full-time at a college or a university as a teaching professional. Educator members receive both membership and certification discounts at the rate of fifty percent off application fees and renewal fees and receive full access to all member benefits, additional training discounts and assistance in the development of syllabi for internal controls course work as well as any available resources for use in the classroom.

Educator Member Benefits 

Become a CICA OR CCS —If you are currently employed full-time by an accredited college or university, you may substitute the three years minimum internal controls professional experience with your teaching experience as well as publication experience.

Full-time educators at the college/university level may be granted the CICA or CCS certification based on their teaching experience in the areas of internal controls, including ethics, governance, auditing, accounting information systems, accounting fraud/forensic accounting, advanced accounting, etc.

Requirement for Educators -You must have taught a minimum of four 3 credit courses, or the equivalent of 12 semester credits on internal controls related topics over a three-year period.

Alternatively, educators may meet the professional experience requirement by submitting original scholarly works that have been published in a peer-reviewed scientific or academic journal in an internal controls related topic. All submissions will be subject to review by the Nominations Committee and the Office of the Chairman, who have the sole discretion to accept or reject such works as meeting the professional experience requirement for certification.

Reduced membership dues with full access to all member resources

Educator Members will receive a 50% on the application fees for certification as well as annual dues.

Educators will also have access to the IIC Common Body of Knowledge, other resources and training you need to provide the most up-to-date information and content to your students, including invitations to webinars.

Educator Discounts to IIC Training and Special Events 

Educators can keep current with the latest developments and emerging trends in the areas of internal controls and incorporate them into their courses, as well as earn NASBA level CPE for their professional needs. Educator members will receive up to 50 percent discount to most IIC sponsored events. (Note that discounts may not be available to events jointly conducted with other organizations).

Free classroom resources —As the leader in internal controls, the IIC may provide educators with a recommended syllabus, teaching aids, suggested textbooks and copies of IIC reference materials for use in your classroom. Learn about educator resources.
